OUR SCHOOL

PRIMARY SCHOOL

  • Primary school nr. 25 began functioning on 10.09.1981. At the time it was one of the biggest schools in the region e.g. in the school year 1984/1985 there were 18 4th grade classes only! With time the number of pupils grew smaller and smaller, which allowed us to welcome 'under our roof' first, High School nr V (1995/1996), then, in 1997 High School nr IX, and finally, after the educational reform, 01.09.1999 there is also Grammar-school nr. 9. Since 29th 07 2009 our school is named after Hans Christian Andersen, and now, its full name is: Hans Christian Andersen Primary School nr. 25 with IntegrationalClasses in Olsztyn.
  • Since 1994 our school is open for schoolchildren with special educational needs, those having difficulties with: walking, hearing, seeing or using wheelchairs. For them we rebuilt the building: a lift was installed, a driveway to the main entrance was built, cloak-rooms and toilets were adjusted, railings were fitted in the corridors, rooms for physiotherapy were created and every classroom was given a telephone. Of course we had to employ specialists: physiotherapists, speech therapists, hearing therapists and psychologists. We pick up the children from the whole town and bring them to school on our special school bus and they learn in integrational classes - 15-20 students in each. While learning, they are given a hand by a supporting teacher, individually. Classes are diversified on the basis of their physical and mental abilities and, consequently, methods and teaching program are suited to their needs. At the moment, there are 29 classes altogether in our school including 16 integrational ones plus 2 pre-school classes. As for the schoolchildren with special needs, we employ, additionally, 24 teachers specialists only to work with them.
  • To develop their interests, we run extra classes for children interested in music, theatre, IT, journalism, school subjects, gymnastics and many more. Dyslectic or stuttering children may count on our help during extra meetings.
  • We offer our help to parents, too. If they wish, they can always meet with our specialists individually or in workshops.
  • In our school you may also find: a biofeedback studio, a library along with computerized reading-room, computer classrooms, a common room, above mentioned, physiotherapy rooms, 4 gyms, playing fields, a nurse, a dentist, canteen and a small snack shop.
